Jemie Lee is a born-and-bred Virginia girl who was happy to return to her home state in August 2014 when she joined 13News Now as a reporter.
Jemie graduated from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va. with a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies and a Master of Arts in Teaching.
Her dreams of becoming a journalist began at WJLA-TV in Washington D.C. where she was a sports intern. Jemie had the opportunity to cover the Washington Nationals, Capitals, Wizards and Redskins. (Although she is an avid fan when it comes to all sports, Jemie says basketball is her "first love" and she'll catch an NBA game whenever she can.)
Jemie joined WMDT-TV in Salisbury, Md. as a general assignment reporter/weekend anchor in 2012. She covered stories on the Eastern Shore of Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. Here most memorable one was when Superstorm Sandy pounded the East Coast. She received several Associated Press awards including Outstanding Coverage of a Continuing Story, Outstanding Human Interest Story, and Outstanding Spot News Reporting.
Jemie's "cool little" hometown of Clifton is just three hours north of Hampton Roads.
