Man charged in fatal hit-and-run in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- A man has been charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that killed a Pennsylvania man on Tuesday.

On November 7, police responded to the intersection of Saint Paul's Boulevard and E. Charlotte Street for an accident that involved a pedestrian.

When officials arrived on the scene, they located John Cutillo of Philadelphia lying in the roadway unconscious.

Despite medical care, he was pronounced dead on the scene.

Witnesses told police that a red Jeep SUV was recklessly driving and stuck Cutillo while he was trying to cross the street.

The Jeep did not stop.

On Friday, Gregory A. Peterson, 28, of the 400 bock of Nicholas Court turned himself.

Peterson was charged with felony hit-and-run and driving while suspended. He is begin held in the Norfolk City Jail with no bond.
