Virginia, local agencies, military plan crash exercise
HAMPTON, Va. (AP) - Military officials are partnering with Virginia and agencies in the Hampton Roads area to plan an aircraft crash exercise.
Joint Base Langley-Eustis officials announced in a statement Monday that the exercise planned for Thursday will focus on proper response procedures for an off-base aircraft crash.
The exercise is planned for 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday at Thomas Nelson Community College in Hampton. During the exercise, officials say people may see smoke or hear tones, voice alerts and loud booms similar to sonic booms.
Local agencies participating include the community college, Hampton Police Division, Hampton Fire and Rescue and Sentara Healthcare.
