NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- Runners braved the cold in Newport News to hit the streets for the One City Marathon.

More than a thousand people came out for the weekend's festivities.

Besides the marathon, runners competed in the Relay and 8-K events. Even a world-renowned ultra-marathoner, Michael Wardian, competed.

And he wasn't the only special contestant: there was also Team Honor, a relay team made up of Newport News Police Officers. They each ran one leg of the race in full uniform. '

Team Honor says they ran to pay respect to law enforcement and military personnel.

All four officers crossed the finish line together.
