NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- The Norfolk Botanical Garden and O'Connor Brewing Co. would like to invite the public to come celebrate 'Day of Beer & Roses' on Saturday, October 15.
The event will celebrate the grand opening of the new O'Connor Grain & Hop Garden. The garden has been cultivated by NBG Horticulturists and the O'Connor Brewing Company, it has been a garden in the making for the past year.
The garden contains ingredients that O'Connor will use in order to create a unique brand of beer specifically for the Garden.
The celebration will include a day of food, beer, family-friendly activities, and a War of the Roses CrossFit Challenge, sponsored by CrossFit Little Creek.
O'Connor's Brewing Co. will also be debuting their newest beer, Susan Constant Wheat Wine. The new drink is a part of the Virginia Vintage Series.
Food trucks such as, Smoothie Express, Karnage Asade, and Over the Moon Pizza will also be on site.
Norfolk Botanical Garden will also be offering walk-and-talk tours of the Rose Garden and a free rose pruning demonstration.
Visitors who are interested in burning off the calories of the beer can participate in the War of the Roses CrossFit benefit workout challenge hosted by the Norfolk Botanical Garden. The challenge will begin at 9 a.m. and run until 1 p.m. Visitors must register for this challenge. The registration costs $35 and includes a War of the Roses t-shirt, a beer ticket, and admission to the Garden.
