PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WVEC) -- You may not have to look too far to find something different to serve for dessert this Thanksgiving.
Oreo cookies may already be in your pantry, and there is a simple way to impress your guests this holiday season by taking them from the bag to the bowl.
“What we're going to make is an Oreo Brownie Trifle. Very simple,” says Tasha Glover of Tasha’s Baked Goodies.
Start by pouring a box of Instant Jello Oreo Pudding Mix into a bowl. “You get it from the grocery store,” Glover says. “I picked [a box] up from Walmart for $1.15.”
Next, measure two cups of milk in a measuring cup. “You always want to make sure that the measuring cup stays flat so that you don't get a non-mixture.” Glover says.
Pour the milk into the bowl with the Oreo Pudding Mix and mix it together for a couple of minutes. “You can do this by hand or with the mixer, whichever is easier for you,” Glover says.
You will need brownies for the next step, and Glover recommends making them yourself. “You can easily buy a brownie mix,” she says. “Add some extra chocolate chips to it to make it a little bit more moist.” Break the brownies up by hand and layer them on top of some of the Oreo Pudding Mix. Then, layer more of the pudding mix on top of the brownie pieces, cover as much of the pieces as possible.
Next, crush some Oreos by hand or using a food processor, and scoop them onto the top layer of pudding mix. Repeat with more layers of pudding, brownies, and crushed Oreos as desired.
Top with whipped cream, and the Oreo Brownie Trifle is ready to enjoy!
Glover says it tastes better if refrigerated for about thirty minutes to allow the flavors to meld. “It's delicious,” says Glover.
