Virginia Beach in need of foster homes for children

Virginia Beach is hosting information sessions for people interested joining the city's foster care program.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- There are more than 200 children in foster care in Virginia Beach and only 60 approved foster care homes which leaves a lot of children without families.

“Whenever a child is separated from their family, it creates trauma. And through our program we’re trying to provide that temporary safe haven for the children,” said Ryan Jones from the Virginia Beach Family Services Office.

If you would like more information on becoming a foster parent, you can attend one of their upcoming information sessions. All of the information can be found on their website.

The next information session is planned for Friday, March 23 from 10 a.m. to noon.

You can also call Ryan Jones with the Virginia Beach Services Office at 757-385-3272 for details.
