SUFFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- A brush fire spread to a home in Suffolk on Tuesday.

According to Suffolk Fire and Rescue, the fire was in the 7600 block of Harvest Drive around 1:26 p.m.

The first unit arrived on the scene at 1:35 p.m. and the fire was under control at 1:55 p.m. The brush fire burned between a half and a full acre of mostly grassy lawn and some woodland.

The fire extended to the home, and it has fire damage mostly to the exterior. The extent of the damage is between $5,000 to $10,000.

According to officials, 8 people were home at the time of the fire and they will be staying with family.

No injuries were reported.

The Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire and it's undetermined at this time.
