NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Five people, including four minors, were taken to a local area hospital following a water rescue Friday evening.

Fire & Rescue responded to calls for a water rescue in the 700 block of East Ocean View just before 6:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, crews saw two people on the shore and three in the water.

A member from Engine 13 and a police officer put on flotation gear and swam out to the victims. One was pulled to shore, while the other two held onto the officer and were later picked up by a Coast Guard boat from JEB Little Creek.

Five people, one adult and four minors, were taken to a Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and CHKD. They all appear to be in good condition.
