CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC) -- Two people were displaced following a house fire on Thursday night.

Firefighters were called to the Deep Creek section of Chesapeake around 9:30 p.m. Crews arrived at the 600 block of Shell Road about 5 minutes later.

Once on the scene, officials found smoke coming from the one-story building. The fire started in the kitchen, and crews were able to contain the fire to just that area of the home.

According to Chesapeake fire officials, the house sustained heavy smoke damage.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The fire was under control by 9:45 p.m. and no injuries were reported.
