VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- Donuts for Dominion: 13News Now partnered up with Dunkin' Donuts and visited a Dominion safety meeting in Virginia Beach Monday morning, to say thank you for helping communities recover in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew.

The storm devastated many, causing power outages and road closures in the area.

Dominion officials say they didn't expect the kudos, but they're grateful.

"We really appreciate it," says Bob Vannoy with Dominion Power. "This is nice to be recognized for what we do. We chose this career and it's what we like to do, but we still like to be thanked."

Just in the city of Virginia Beach alone, 45 percent of the customers were without power. All told, more than 300,000 customers in Hampton Roads and northeast North Carolina were impacted.
