NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Wednesday started out a bit chilly, but Norfolk Public Schools students heated up the track.

Students broke a sweat while forming bonds during a unified track and field event. Norfolk Public Schools is trying to cultivate acceptance among all students. It's a day that brings together students with and without disabilities

Norview High School students call it "Choose to Include."

"You don't want them to feel left out, you want them to really feel like they're involved with everyone. And you don't just want to push them away, just because they have a disability," said Anthony Manuel.

School leaders hope this event fosters a love for athletics and lifelong friendships, bonds that can't be broken.
