VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- A 20-year-old has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for shooting a man three times with his own gun.
Hasaan Lorenzo Gordon of the 1200 block of Old Clubhouse Road in Virginia Beach was sentenced on Monday for charges of Malicious Wounding, Use of a Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm by a Non-Violent Felon.
The victim loaned his gun to a friend. The friend took the gun to a Norfolk State University homecoming party on October 29. Gordon was also at the party.
The friend believed Gordon stole the firearm from his vehicle during the party, and told the owner of the gun. The next day, the victim drove to Gordon's home on Old Clubhouse road to try and get his gun back.
Around 8 p.m. Gordon was walking down the street when the victim confronted him. The victim punched Gordon in the face and a struggle ensued.
The victim recognized his gun in Gordon's waistband and tried to prevent Gordon from grabbing it.
Gordon shot the victim twice in the stomach, started walking away, and walked back to the victim. He shot the victim a third time.
The victim survived the shooting.
Gordon was located a few days later in Nassau County, New York. He was extradited back to Virginia Beach.
Gordon has prior convictions of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Grand Larceny.
He was sentenced to 28 years in prison with 11 years suspended.
