HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) -- A verbal altercation that escalated violently in Hampton landed one man in the hospital with multiple stab wounds and a woman in jail.

Police arrested Freda Crump-Davis, 58, who was charged with one count of maiming and is in custody at the Hampton City Jail.

Authorities tell us that the stabbing took place in the 1300 block of Big Bethel Rd. Officers arrived at that location to find a 64-year-old man with non-life threatening stab wounds.

Medics rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Investigators learned that both the man and woman were involved in a verbal argument that led up to a physical altercation where Crump-Davis allegedly stabbed the man multiple times.
