VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- It’s being described by neighbors as a Christmas crime scene.
Inflatable holiday decorations were slashed by vandals outside at least five different homes in Virginia Beach Wednesday night.
The majority of the crime happened on or near Aquamarine Drive.
“They cut him very good, it’s very big and I don’t like it,” said six-year-old Maliki Meeks, holding up a Frosty with a puncture wound.
It was one of five holiday decorations sliced with a razor blade in his yard.
“So hurt that somebody could come around and vandalize,” said homeowner Marilyn Watt. “I just pray whoever you are you come forward.”
Watt said the worst part is explaining to her special needs son, why Frosty, Santa and the Nativity were destroyed.
“I just found out last night that it was popped and I don’t know why It happened,” said 12-year-old Tommy Watt.
Down the street more holiday favorites were left gasping for air. A turkey was decapitated while a snowman was lying in the sidewalk with a hole in the chest.
“It’s hard not to be depressed,” said Dawn Johnson.
Johnson had seven "casualties" in her front yard.
“It was like a Christmas murder scene out here, Rudolph slashed in the eye, one of the snowmen had his throat cut,” said Johnson.
The gingerbread boy was the only one to make it out alive. Johnson said these vandals went so far as to use a trashcan to climb onto the roof and stab Santa in the back of the head.
“I’m heartbroken, I’m pissed off, it just kind of kills the Christmas spirit, we worked hard on this,” said Johnson.
Both these victims said the damage is estimated at close to $1,000. Neither of them have the money to replace the decorations.
“I’m not going to be defeated I’m going to figure out some way to rectify this,” said Watt. “They may kick us down but I’m going to get myself up and somehow this yard is going to be lit up again before Christmas.”
If anyone out there has any information on who may have caused this vandalism you are being urged to call Virginia Beach Police at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
