Former elementary school janitor sentenced for selling heroin on school grounds

Aaron Williams worked for Newport News Public Schools for seven years. Investigators said he sold heroin at Sedgefield Elementary School.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- A man who used to work as a janitor at Sedgefield Elementary School has been sentenced to serve 21 months in prison for selling heroin on the school's grounds.

Court documents state 28-year-old Aaron Williams sold heroin to a confidential informant on school property.

He acquired the drugs from Scott Fletcher, 51, who distributed heroin in Newport News and Hampton.

After he completes his prison sentence, Williams will serve six years of supervised release.

Fletcher was sentenced to 66 months in prison and four years of supervised release.

A spokeswoman for Newport News Public Schools said Williams worked for the division from March 2010 until September 2017.
