NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- A local man wanted by the U.S. Marshals and the Virginia State Police for failure to register as a sex offender has turned himself in.

Juan Hunter, 48, was convicted in 2001 of indecent liberties with a child by custodian in Chesapeake. Hunter was initially registered as a sex offender on November 8, 2000 and needed to renewed his registration on July 10, 2017.

A $500 reward was issued after Hunter failed to renew his registration. Authorities say Hunter turned himself in at the Norfolk City Jail late Friday night.
