ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WVEC) -- Four years ago Jovan Lee Morris was reported missing. A few days later his body was found in a ditch.

Yet, all these years later investigators have still not been able to figure out who killed him.

On July 6, 2013, the family of Jovan Lee Morris reported him missing to the Elizabeth City Police Department.

Morris, also known as Petey Roc. Morris, was last seen on the evening of July 5, 2003, walking into his car in the parking lot of the Woodstock II apartment complex in Elizabeth City.

Morris's car was found at the apartment complex, with the driver's side door unlocked and the keys in the ignition.

Just a little less than a week later, on July 13, 2013, Morris's body was found in a ditch on Florida Road in Pasquotank County.

Morris's death was ruled as a homicide. Investigators say he was shot.

Through the years, the Pasquotank County Sheriff's Office, the Elizabeth City Police Department and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation have been investigating the death.

Investigators believe they are close to a break in the case, but are pleading for more information from the public.
