PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WVEC) -- A man has been charged in connection with a death of a two-year-old in Portsmouth.
On October 26, at approximately 2:05 p.m., police communications received a 9-1-1 call requesting medical assistance to the 1600 block of Cavalier Boulevard for a toddler in medical distress.
When medics arrived they transported the child to CHKD for treatment.
Once the toddler arrived at the hospital, it became apparent that his condition was a result of head trauma.
Detectives began to investigate the incident as child abuse/ neglect case involving serious injury.
On October 28, the two-year-old succumbed to his injuries and the police began investigating the case as a homicide.
On November 8, detectives arrested 26-year-old Bodacious A. Crocker of Portsmouth in connection with the child's death.
Crocker is charged with second degree murder and is currently in the custody of the Portsmouth City Jail.
No further information about the case has been released.
