NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- Police are searching for the man they say robbed a 7-Eleven convenience store in Newport News on Wednesday morning.

The robbery happened shortly before 3:30 a.m. at the 7-Eleven located on Oyster Point Road and Jefferson Avenue. Employees told police a thin, dark-skinned man wearing all black (black gloves, jacket, pants, shoes, and ski mask) entered the store and pulled out a handgun.

The suspect demanded cash from the register, and after a clerk complied, the man then ordered employees open the safe. The clerks told him they did not have access to it, at which point the robber left.
