PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WVEC) -- Police are investigating an armed robbery that left one employee injured Wednesday night.
The robbery happened at the Neighborhood Market on Afton Parkway just before 9:30 p.m.
According to detectives, two men walked into the store and demanded money. At least one of the men had a gun.
One of the employees was shot in the lower body while trying to comply with the suspects' demands. Medics took the employee to a local area hospital where he is expected to survive.
The two men ran away after taking an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes.
The first suspect is described as a thin build black man. He is believed to be between 6' and 6'2" tall and was last seen wearing a blue hoodie with #3 on the right shoulder, dark colored pants, white sneakers and carrying a silver handgun.
The second suspect is described as a heavier black man. He is believed to be between 5'10" and 5'11" tall. He was last seen wearing dark colored jeans, black headgear, and a black jacket.
