ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WVEC) -- A funeral has been scheduled for the 3rd employee killed during the Pasquotank Correctional Institute attempted prison break.

Wendy Shannon, 49, will be laid to rest on Sunday, Nov. 5 at the ECSU Fine Arts Complex at 2 p.m.

A viewing and visitation will take place on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church in Elizabeth City.

Wendy began her Department of Public Safety career at Pasquotank in October of 2013 as a correctional officer.

She died on October 30 from injuries she suffered after four men attempted to escape from the Correctional Institute on October 12. She was one of four employees killed.

The four inmates, Wisezah Buckman, Seth Frazier, Mikel Brady, and Jonathan Monk were indicted on Monday. They face charges including first degree murder, attempted first degree murder, and burning a public building.

The District Attorney said he will seek a third indictment for first degree murder when a grand jury meets on December 4.

"We're pulling very strongly for the recovery of Mr. Howe. We certainly don't want to end up having to do a fourth indictment. We hope that Mr. Howe makes it," District Attorney Andrew Womble said.
