EASTERN REGION, Va. (WVEC) -- The health departments from the Southside, Peninsula, Eastern Shore and Three Rivers will hand out free flu shots while practicing their emergency response plans next week.
The shots will be given on Saturday, September 23.
There will be various locations around the eastern region to receive the free vaccines. Some will be walk-in clinics while others will be drive-thrus. Drivers will not be asked to get out of their car.
Everyone who attends is asked to wear short sleeves.
The flu vaccine is the best way to prevent getting the flu.

The Virginia Department of Health also recommends that in addition to getting the vaccine, everyone thoroughly wash their hands, cover their mouths when sneezing/coughing, and staying home when their sick.
