CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC) -- A popular local mall will be joining other national malls and closing its doors on Thanksgiving Day.

Greeenbrier Mall will be closed on Thanksgiving day before reopening for Black Friday at 6 a.m.

This announcement comes after other stores have also decided to be closed on the holiday, including Hhgregg, and Mall of America.

Greenbrier Mall owners are hopeful that this move will help bring back the excitement of Black Friday. "So enjoy that extra plate of pie at dinner, take a long after noon nap, set your alarm and wake up with us to bring back the magic of Black Friday."
