PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WVEC) -- You may not know it, but May is Lupus Awareness Month.
Lupus is an illness that affects more than a million people in the U.S., and there's no cure. But there are groups working to change that right here in Hampton Roads.
The 3rd Annual Hampton Roads Lupus Walk for a Cure is Saturday. The walk intends to raise awareness and come together to support local lupus fighters.
The event will be from 9 am to noon at I.C. Norcom High School, 1801 London Boulevard in Portsmouth.
Jokiva Rivers from Dallas will be the Grand Marshal. Many follow her on Instagram because of her positivity while battling lupus.
