VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- Friends of Virginia Beach Animals is in dire need to foster volunteers.
The Friends of Virginia Beach Animals took to Facebook, saying "The shelters are busting at the seams and there are TONS of animals getting PUT DOWN TOMORROW unless we can find some fosters."
The Second Chance Animal Rescue is looking for foster volunteers to take in kittens, puppies or dogs on a short term basis. There is no cost to the volunteer, all food, shots, medical, etc is provided. The only thing the foster volunteer would need to do is provide a temporary home.
"This happens, unfortunately, all the time. We are constantly out there searching for foster families so we can save these dogs," said Beth Hughes with Second Chance.
The local rescue has committed to taking several animals from North Carolina and they will be arriving this weekend. This rescue is not affiliated with the Virginia Beach Animal Care & Adoption Center.
The foster parents would provide a temporary home while the shelter markets each animal to be adopted.
