HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) -- Approximately 1,600 gallons of fuel spilled and then leaked into storm drains this morning.
Emergency workers told 13News Now the incident happened in the 3400 block of Victoria Blvd.
Battalion Chief Anthony Chittum with the Hampton Division of Fire & Rescue said a tanker truck ran over a barrier causing the spill.
Crews put down a kitty-litter like substance that's meant to absorb and contain the fuel.

While Chittum said the spill does not pose any danger to people, crews are asking them to shelter in place and notify emergency medical crews if they start to feel sick.
