WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WVEC) -- An Amtrak passenger train heading from Boston to Newport News was damaged by debris on the tracks Tuesday morning.

Amtrak spokesperson Kimberly Woods said the incident happened at about 11:20 a.m. near Williamsburg. It's not clear what type of debris damaged the train, but service on Northeast Regional Train 67 has been suspended.

No injuries are reported.

Eighty-four passengers were reportedly on board at the time. Arrangements are being made to provide them alternate transportation.

Mechanical crews are inspecting the train's damage.

Right now, the Northeast Regional service is expected to operate on its normal schedule on Wednesday.
