VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) --- Military dads are creating magical memories with their daughters Saturday night. It's all part of the Daddy, Daughter Cinderella's Ballroom Dance.

This is the first time for this annual event. It was held Dance Sport VA in Virginia Beach.

'Lady's Grace' planned the evening of enchanting festivities. These families deserved it after spending a lot of time apart during long deployments.

It was free to attend and included dancing, crowns, and a princess surprise.

"It's really important to have this bonding time," said Kara Coe a Lady's Grace psychologist. She said studies show that bonding time with parents helps kids excel in school and life.

"It was awesome and I loved the princesses," said princess Sophia Brown, "It feels really special," said her sister Bella Brown.

"As a parent, any time with them is great, you know. Um – and being able to do it in times like this you know outside of the norm at the house. You know to do it at an event like this is cool," said Petty Officer 1st Class, Roger Brown.

Planning for next year's event is already in the works. To learn more about the Lady's Grace organization click here:
