CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC) -- No one was hurt, but 12 people were put out of their home by a fire Saturday.

Capt. Lawrence Matthews with the Chesapeake Fire Department said crews were in the 800 block of Washington Dr. in Grassfield shortly after 5 p.m.

Conditions in the burning two-story house deteriorated, and firefighters had to pull out of the home. They brought the fire under control just before 6:15 p.m.

Three adults and nine children were displaced. Matthews said they made their own housing arrangements.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
