Five adults, two children displaced after Chesapeake fire

Firefighters arrived to find the two-story townhome unit completely engulfed in flames shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday.

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC) -- Seven people are out of a home after a weekend townhouse fire in Chesapeake.

It happened on Kings Court in South Norfolk on Saturday afternoon, east of Campostella and Providence Road.

Firefighters arrived to find the two-story townhome unit completely engulfed in flames shortly before 6 p.m.

Firefighters were able to contain the majority of the fire damage to the main fire occupancy, with some damage extending into a neighboring unit.

The fire was brought under control by 6:24 p.m.

No one was hurt, and the Red Cross is assisting the displaced family members.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
