CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC) -- The extended lifts that plagued drivers at Chesapeake's Great Bridge bridge over the past several days should now be over.

The city said on Friday morning that repairs to the drawbridge's electrical system are complete, and that it would be returning to its normal lift schedule.

The repair work was needed following a lightning strike last week, which forced the bridge to be manually operated for extended lifts twice a day.

The normal lift schedule for the bridge is on the hour between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m., and then on-demand lifts between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.
