CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC) -- Four suspects are recovering in the hospital after crashing a stolen car during a police chase Tuesday morning on I-464 in Chesapeake.

Kelly Elliott with Chesapeake Police told 13News Now officers were dispatched to Greentree Commons after receiving a report of vehicle break-ins.

The suspects reportedly fled the scene before police arrived. A witness gave officers a description of the suspect vehicle, which was spotted by police at the 7-Eleven located at Military Highway and Georgetown Boulevard.

Police pursued the vehicle, which refused to stop, onto I-464. The car crashed as it lost control exiting onto Poindexter Street.

The driver and three passengers were taken into custody and transported to the hospital with minor injuries, police said.

Items stolen during the vehicle break-ins were recovered from inside the suspect vehicle, which was reported stolen from Virginia Beach.

Police say one of the suspects is 18 years old and the other three are juveniles.

The incident remains under investigation.

Charges are pending.
