CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC) -- Two people are displaced after an early morning house fire in Chesapeake.

Firefighters were called to the 4000 block of 4th Street at 4:48 a.m. and arrived to find smoke coming from a one-story home.

Captain Scott Saunders with Chesapeake Fire reports the fire caused substantial damage to the kitchen and was brought under control at 5:08 a.m.

No one was injured and the Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.

It is not yet known what caused the fire.
