Argument leads to shooting in grocery store parking lot

The shooting happened Sunday afternoon in a Kroger parking lot in Hampton.

HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) — Police in Hampton are asking for the public's help to find the suspect of a shooting that stemmed over an argument in a grocery store parking lot.

The shooting happened around 4:19 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the Kroger located in the 2100 block of Coliseum Drive.

The victim, a 24-year-old Newport News man, said he got into a verbal argument with several people in the parking lot. One of the individuals the victim was arguing with pulled out a gun and fired a single shot, hitting the victim.

Friends transported the victim to the Sentara Care-Plex emergency room, where he was treated for a non-life-threatening injury.

No one else was hurt by the gunfire, and no suspect information is available at this time.
