HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) -- A man is in the hospital after police say he was shot multiple times early Monday morning.

Hampton Police were called out to the intersection of Shell Road and Courtland Avenue at about 1:11 a.m., where they found a 31-year-old Hampton man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators say his injuries are non-life threatening.

The victim said he had been walking near the intersection, when he was approached by an unknown suspect, who told him not to move. The victim began to ran however, and that's when the suspect opened fire.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Hampton Police Division at 727–6111 or the Crime Line at 1–888-LOCK-U-UP. Tipsters can also send an anonymous tip via text message to the Crime Line by texting “HAMPTONPDTIPS plus your tip” to 274637 (CRIMES).

Crime Line callers remain anonymous and never appear in court. If a Crime Line call results in an arrest, the caller is eligible for a reward up to $1,000.
