HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) -- Police have arrested a man following a shooting Monday night in Hampton.

According to officials, the shooting occurred in the 700 block of Kecoughtan Road around 6:35 p.m. One man with a single gunshot wound was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

On Tuesday, investigators said they have arrested 43-year-old Omar Shariff Evans of Newport News. He is currently charged with one count of aggravated malicious wounding, one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling, and one count of use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

Evans is currently being held at the Hampton City Jail.
