HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) -- Police are asking for the public's help to find the people responsible for a shooting early Monday morning in Hampton.

Investigators say that police received a call of shots fired shortly after 2 a.m. in the 2100 block of Kecoughtan Road. As officers responded, the call was upgraded to a shooting.

Officers arrived to find a 25-year-old Hampton man suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators say the victim was in the area when an unknown suspect began shooting at him, hitting him once. The motive and circumstances behind this shooting remain under investigation.
