NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- Newport News police are asking for the public's in identifying a suspect who robbed a 7-Eleven at gunpoint.

On Nov. 2, at 3:28 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 7-Eleven located at Oyster Point Road and Jefferson Avenue for a report of a robbery.

Workers at the store told police a thin black man with a dark complexion entered the store and showed a small handgun. The man then demanded the clerk open the register. The clerk complied and the suspect took the cash.

The suspect then demanded the clerks open the safe. When told they did not have access, the suspect left the store. He was last seen wearing all black.

Police are continuing to investigate the robbery.
