NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- Police charged three teenagers in connection to the armed robbery of two Christopher Newport University students.

The robbery took place shortly before 7:50 p.m. Sunday in the first block of Shoe Lane.

A 20-year-old and a 21-year-old said they were walking near Shoe and Moores Lane North when three people with guns came up to them and demanded their belongings.

The robbers took several items from the men, including a cell phone, a wallet, and a laptop computer.

The robbers got into a black Nissan SUV and left.

Investigators found the SUV in the 700 block of 74th Street. As officers approached it, the people inside the SUV got out and ran. Police were able to find them.

The SUV was reported stolen from the 300 block of Hidenwood Drive in Newport News on October 14.

Police arrested a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy from Newport and charged each with Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm Under the Age of 18.

Officers also charged a 17-year-old girl from Newport News with Accessory After the Fact.

Police are continuing their investigation.
