Police: Newport News woman charged with assault on a family member

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A Newport News woman is facing assault charges after she allegedly pulled out a knife and pepper sprayed four people Thursday, police said.

Officers were called to a domestic assault around 7:16 p.m. to the 500 block of Great Park Drive.

Four victims — a 20-year-old man, a 19-year-old woman, a 20-year-old woman, and a 21-year-old man — told police that one of the victims began to fight with family member Lashelle Ingram.

During the fight, police said Ingram, 27, grabbed a knife and walked toward the four people in a "threatening manner."

Ingram then opened the front door and used pepper spray on the four people, police said.

Ingram is charged with four counts of malicious injury by accident/explosive/fire, assault on a family member, and two counts of assault.
