NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- Commonwealth's Attorney Howard Gwynn says he's investigating 33 voter registration applications that could be fraudulent in Newport News.

We're told third party groups may have filed the fake applications.

Gwynn says a registrar alerted him to the problem last week. Now he's trying to figure out who filed the applications.

In Virginia, it's a felony to put false information on a voter registration form.
