NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- Twenty-one students were on board a school bus on Monday morning when it went into a ditch.

The crash happened at Curtis Tignor Road and Warwick Boulevard while the bus was en route to Dutrow Elementary school.

The accident happened near the school, so the students were able to walk to class.

The Newport News Fire Department assisted on the scene.

Officials say no one onboard the bus was injured, although a few of the kids were shaken up.

Michelle Price, the spokesperson for Newport News schools tells 13News Now that the driver of the bus has been pulled off the route while an investigation is underway.
