NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- Newport News police are working to track down the suspect who robbed a Towne Bank on Oyster Point Rd. and made off with an unknown amount of cash.

The robbery took place at the bank located at 1 Old Oyster Point Rd. Dispatchers received a call about the incident just after 2 p.m.

Investigators learned that an unknown black male entered the bank, placed a handgun on the counter and passed the teller a note demanding money.

The teller placed an unknown amount of cash in a bag. After the suspect fled on foot, a dye pack activated.

He was flown to the Intown Suites next to the bank and got into a white sedan being driven by another unknown black male.

Both fled the area south on Old Oyster Point Rd.

Some money was recovered at the scene, but it is unknown how much the suspect fled with.

The suspect is described as a man in his 50's with facial hair, wearing a blue shirt with red stripes and faded blue jeans.

No one was injured during the robbery.
