Woman hit and killed by vehicle overnight in Newport News identified

Medics pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) — One woman is dead after getting hit by a vehicle in Newport News.

Police identified the victim as 35-year-old Amber Jade Dickens of the 13200 block of Aqueduct Drive in Newport News.

She was hit on Warwick Boulevard and Colony Road. Police say she was walking in and out of traffic when she was hit around 1:30 Wednesday morning. Medics pronounced her dead at the scene.

We're told the driver stayed on scene and police are still investigating. There is still no indication of why she was walking in and out of traffic.
