NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Firefighters took on a fire that broke out at a Norfolk auto parts store and warehouse in Norfolk on Saturday afternoon.

Norfolk Fire-Rescue units responded to the Advantage Auto Store in the 2500 block of Granby Street shortly after 5:30 after receiving multiple calls of black smoke coming from the building.

Arriving firefighters didn't notice any immediate fire from the outside, but noticed smoke-stained windows and light smoke from inside the building.

Crews forced entry into the front door and reported moderate heat and black smoke inside the building. Firefighters began a search of the building until they found the main body of the fire and quickly extinguished it.

Firefighters continue searching the building to make sure there are no more additional, hidden fires. The fire was deemed under control by 6:05 p.m.

The auto parts store did not have working smoke alarms. The business had been closed at the time of the fire, and no one was inside, and no injuries are reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but officials say it does not appear to be suspicious.
