NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- The Elizabeth River Trail is opening back up over the Midtown Tunnel.

The grand reopening ceremony will be November 10, and featurea ribbon cutting at 4 p.m.

The Elizabeth River Trail has been operating under a detour since 2013 to allow for the expansion of the Midtown Tunnel.

The 10.5 mile trail connects visitors, residents and businesses and offers pedestrians and cyclists a path with easy access to downtown, Fort Norfolk, Chelsea, West Ghent and the Norfolk Naval Base.

The reopening will feature connections that tie into the newly opened bike loop.
