Former ODU football player sentenced to 3 years in 2017 assault case

NORFOLK, Va. — A former Old Dominion University football player was sentenced to 3 years in a 2017 assault case.

Devin Hannan will serve 3 years total for malicious wounding and assault and battery, Norfolk Circuit Court said in a tweet.

Hannan was found guilty of malicious wounding and assault and battery in June 2018.

Norfolk police were called to The Edge at 4800 Hampton Boulevard early morning in June 2017 for a reported assault. When police arrived, they found two men, ages 21 and 26, suffering from minor injuries.

Hannan and another teammate, Manuel Matiarena, were arrested in the incident.
