NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- A Portsmouth man is in jail in connection with a weekend robbery in Norfolk that left a man hospitalized.

Norfolk Police said they received a call of a possible gunshot victim around 7 p.m. Sunday in the 700 block of Norchester Avenue. Arriving officers found a man suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Investigators said the victim had gotten into an argument with 30-year-old Eric Collins. At one point, Collins allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the victim. Collins then robbed the victim before fleeing the area.

The following day, Collins was arrested without incident in Portsmouth. He is currently being held without bond in the Norfolk City Jail, where he is charged with robbery, malicious wounding, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
