Norfolk hit-and-run pedestrian victim passes away

85-year-old Vinnie Lanier passed away after spending more than a week in a coma.

NORFOLK, Va. — An 85-year-old woman who was hit by a car last week has died.

Vinnie Lanier passed away Sunday night, after spending more than a week in a coma.

Lanier was crossing the intersection of Wide and Henry streets around 7 p.m. Friday, February 8, when she was hit by a silver or gray Nissan Altima, police said in a news release.

The Altima didn't stop and took off from the scene.

Lanier was initially taken to the hospital in stable condition; however, her condition declined, and she was pronounced dead on Sunday, February 17.
